Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 | Effective 21 August 2026

Scott Education respects your privacy and aims to collect and use only the personal information reasonably needed to provide its services and communications.

Andrew Scott, trading as Scott Education, is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. For privacy questions or requests, contact contact@scotteducation.com.

What we collect and why

When you request access to Reader Resources, we collect your email address, together with your form choices, the date and time of submission, and a record of the version of any disclaimer or terms presented to you.

We use this information to provide and administer access to the resources, send genuinely necessary service communications, maintain appropriate records, and protect the operation and legal interests of Scott Education. We rely on our legitimate interests in providing the service you requested, administering it appropriately and maintaining accurate records.

Necessary service communications may include access information, important technical or security messages, or significant changes affecting the resources. They are not used as a substitute for marketing consent.

If you contact Scott Education, we may also use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry and manage our correspondence.

Our website and hosting systems may automatically record standard technical information such as IP addresses, browser information and request times for security, troubleshooting and operation.

Scott Education does not ask you to provide medical records or detailed health information through the Reader Resources access form.

Marketing emails

Marketing is optional.

If you actively tick the marketing opt-in box, we may send you occasional emails about Scott Education material, resources, books and services. Our lawful basis for this is your consent.

Choosing not to receive marketing does not prevent you from accessing the Reader Resources.

You can withdraw your marketing consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in an email or contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information in whole or in part to any party.

We use service providers where necessary to operate the website and communications, including website hosting and email-delivery providers. Current services include Hostinger, SMTP2GO and Google Workspace. They process information only as required to provide their services to us and are subject to their own contractual and data-protection obligations.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Some service providers operate internationally. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we use applicable lawful transfer arrangements, such as UK adequacy regulations or recognised contractual safeguards, where required.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

Reader-access and disclaimer-acknowledgement records may be retained while the resources are provided and afterwards where reasonably necessary for administration, compliance or the establishment or defence of legal rights.

Marketing information is retained until you withdraw your consent or it is otherwise no longer required. If you unsubscribe, we may retain the minimum information needed to record your opt-out and ensure that marketing is not sent to you again.

Correspondence and technical records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for their purpose.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights to request access to your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion or restriction of processing, obtain certain information in portable form, and object to certain processing.

You have the right to object to direct marketing at any time. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests where applicable.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise your rights, contact contact@scotteducation.com.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are concerned about how your personal information has been handled.

Cookies and automated decisions

The website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for its operation and security. If Scott Education uses non-essential analytics or marketing cookies, appropriate information and consent choices will be provided where required.

Scott Education does not use your personal information to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the website, services or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be shown at the top of this page.
